TRACK OF THE WEEK

Saturday February 18

Saturday February 11

Saturday February 4

‘In My Arms’ by Mylo – dropped by Mark James @ approx. 12am

Okay, okay … I know! It’s not a NEW tune by any means … but from the fact that this was the 100% perfect selection for an opening track, all the way through to the way Mark cut it up effortlessly on the faders to maximize the breakdowns … this was a serious BOMB DU NUIT on Saturday night, baby!

Saturday January 28

Moby – Slipping Away (Axwell Vocal Mix): dropped by Ivan Gough at approx. 2:00am. Moby is a legend and Axwell is the gun remixer du jour, so close your eyes and imagine what it sounds like. Or, better still, rock down to Volume this week … Ivy’s sure to drop it for some weeks to come! Gold. Plain and simple …

Saturday January 21

Anything and everything played by Tiefschwarz. There were no clear highlights in their set, so don’t bother asking for them … the whole two and a bit hours was a genuine, 100% Melbourne clubbing Kodak moment!!

Saturday January 14

‘Satisfaction’ – Benny Benassi: dropped by Benny Benassi @ approx. 0350am … there’s only one thing that can satisfy more than hearing one of the definitive tracks of the last few years alone, and that’s hearing it being tweaked, scratched, sampled and dropped by the man himself … bravo, signor Benny, bravo!

Saturday December 17

‘Flaunt It’ – TV Rock – dropped by Ivan Gough @ approx. 02:30am. No, you’re right, it’s not a new track … well done. But if you saw the ceiling shaking, the crowd wailing, Ivan shaking and the bar rolling to this tune and a half on Saturday night, you, like 1100 others, couldn’t care less how new it is!!!!

Saturday December 10

‘Work This Pussy’ – dropped by The Floor Rocker himself at approx. 03:30am … sure, it’s been around for a little while, but it’s never gone off like this before … completely b-a-n-a-n-a-s.

Saturday December 3

Everything Phil Hartnoll played – there were no individual winners on Saturday night, just dance music as a whole … standing ovation – clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.

Saturday November 26

‘Touch Me’– Rui Da Silva

Dropped by Ivan Gough @ approx. 02:20am: an oldie but a goodie in anyone’s books … everyone loves to be touched in the morning, don’t they?

Saturday November 19

In a week riddled with tunes worthy of ‘track of the week’ status, it’s difficult to go past Ivan Gough’s dropping of BT’s gift to dance music as a gift to Alison – ‘Flaming June’. Okay, okay … I know … this huge choon was mentioned in this very space not that long ago, but, hey … you gotta’ call it like you see it (and hear it), folks! Pure gold … and yep … there’s those goose-bumps again!

Saturday November 12

ANY of Parallel Sounds’ homemade weapons!!!! … systematically dropped live with precision and flair between the hours of 0200am and 0430am.

Saturday November 5

A crazy, crazy, crazy remix of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta’ Love’ – dropped by Mark James @ approx. 02:25am.  We know not which mix this is, nor indeed, from whence it came … but when a choon explodes like this one did on Saturday night, the care factor is very little – zero, in fact. It came, it saw, it rocked … and Robert Plant has NEVER sounded better … Oh, except from the comfort of your beanbag in the early 1990’s, of course.

Saturday October 29

‘Closer To Me’ – Chab

Dropped by Andrew Padula @ 12:30am – an oldie, but more than a goodie, and Padula let it rip at precisely the right moment.

Saturday October 22

‘White Horse’ – Wonderland Avenue, Mike Monday Mix. Dropped by Mark James @ 02:00am – seeing them like watermelons, Mark unleashed this galloping new albino colt on the Volume massive and bugger me sideways if it wasn’t the finest example of ‘giddiup’ one is ever likely to witness … CHOOOOON!

Saturday October 15

‘Hung Up’ – Madonna (unknown remix) by Andy J @ 02:45am … just like Madonna, we’re sure Andy has a few confessions from the dance floor, too! Bomb choon and perfectly dropped …

Saturday October 8

S & V - Beats And Bones

Played by Andrew Padula @ 4:05... Will definitely be a classic in time to come at Volume and all over town. Keep an ear out for it... Andrew calls it a weapon!!

Saturday October 1

TV Rock ‘Flaunt It’

Played by Ivan Gough @ 2:00am ... sure it’s been a favourite since Ivan first flaunted it at Volume several months ago, but the roofing repair guys have been down at the club since late Sunday morning trying to reattach it after last week’s flaunt of ‘what our mama’s gave us’

Saturday September 24

Andy J – ‘Tilt My Hat’ (Vandalism mix)

Played by Andy J @ 02:45am in the Main Room … there’s something seriously special about watching someone who has meticulously handcrafted their own dance floor weapon, dropping it on their intended target with unparalleled precision and success!

Saturday September 17

Dave Dobbyn – Slice Of Heaven

Played by Rowie @ 05:15am in the Beat Suite … completely 100% strange, but completely 100% true!

Saturday September 10

Kings of Tomorrow – Finally

Dropped by Commander James @ 0345 hours – perfect timing, perfect vibe, perfectly designed bomb..

Saturday September 3

Mylo – In My Arms (Sharam Jey Mix)

Dropped by Tahl @ 2:15am goose bumps at every drift of the synth!
