LAST WEEK

At the risk of sounding like a scratched CD, Saturday night was absolutely pumping! With the warmer summer air and the absence of exams (at every level of education) combining beautifully - not too mention the Silly Season vibe starting to kick in - Volume was at its biggest and loudest best …

Following another classic opening set from Steve Bleas, the already busy and pumping main floor was treated to no less than two and half hours of sheer dance music delight from resident fave and scratch king, Ivan Gough. Track after track, bomb after bomb, new weapon after new weapon, Ivan made every use of his prolonged set and delivered what could well be described as one of the Volume highlights of 2005!

Picking up beautifully from where Ivan left off, the man with more monikers than an ‘Mi5’ spy, Andy J, kept the floor rocking with his beloved brand of big room tunes … rocking, that is, for every single one of his 120 minute extended set! That’s right … Andy J also enjoyed a slightly longer set last week – talk about being spoiled, people! Nice one!

With hands in the air and feet funking, Volume’s Main Room greeted Richie Walton to the ones and twos with hands aloft, and, with a series of big hitting choons he kept them there nicely! Complete with Alison and Harl both having the birthday celebration times of their lives, last week’s Volume had it all: huge choons, huge floor and huge vibe! Bring summer on ya’ll … bring it on!!

THIS WEEK

This Saturday night sees Volume Main Room residents Ivan Gough, Andrew Padula, Mark James, Steve Bleas and Dee Dee playing all the biggest club tunes from start to finish with a sprinkle of new releases, hard to find bootlegs and some of their very own productions in the mix. This truly is Melbourne’s best DJ line up week in, week out. In the Beat Suite things go vocal and soulful with the latest batch of upcoming DJ talent including Mike Steva, Adam Burlock, Baz Emera, Lucas Mayne and TKO.
